Whitworth Senior Scholarship Awards

The Whitworth Senior Scholarship Awards were established to offer an enhanced level of financial reward for postgraduate research. The awards are to assist engineers who are intending to do research and are planning to embark on postgraduate degree study for a PhD or EngD degree.

Since 2006 the Trustees have decided to offer enhanced awards for Postgraduate Research. This form of financial support will be known as a Whitworth Senior Scholarship Award. This new award will be open to existing Whitworth Award Holders and Whitworth Scholars and other eligible candidates.

Conditions of eligibility will be the same as for the Whitworth Scholarship Awards, except that a degree-level programme will have already been completed.

Purpose
Available for Postgraduate Research. (For Postgraduate Research leading to a MPhil, PhD or EngD). Conditions of eligibility will be the same as for the Whitworth Scholarship Awards except that a degree-level programme will have already been completed.

Value
Up to £15,000 p.a. for full-time research for a maximum period of three years and from £4,500 p.a. for part-time researchs.

The Award may be held concurrently with other forms of financial support (except with any other Whitworth Award).
