Facilities

We’ve invested £260 million in our facilities and are continuing to invest. Whether it’s our state-of-the-art Parkside Building which includes the largest concentration of TV studios between London and Salford or the simulated operating theatre and hospital wards at our City South Campus, we’re making sure you have the best possible space to learn. Our libraries provide access to over 135 million resources including books, journal articles, e-book chapters and conference proceedings.

Benefits of studying a PhD

  • Make an original contribution to knowledge in your chosen discipline
  • Higher lifetime earnings – 3.5 years after graduation, 72% of doctoral graduate respondents were earning over £30,000 compared with 56% of master’s graduates and 22% of first degree graduates (who obtained good grades).
  • Increase access to higher level jobs or certain career paths. You may wish to embark on a doctoral degree as an enabling step towards a research-intensive career either in higher education or in the public or private sector. While there are some exceptions, a doctoral-level qualification is increasingly essential to progress in higher education.
