If you are wanting to create positive change through education, then a PCGE or PDGE is for you. With over 138 years’ experience, training the next generation of teachers runs through our veins, earning an enviable reputation for our teacher training courses within the sector. Our courses run full-time over one year and focus on your development as a teacher rather than on the subject you intend to teach. Through a mixture of placements and teaching, you will learn to plan and evaluate lessons, and benefit from fantastic support networks that you can depend on.

Award-winning Facilities
With an impressive investment of over 350m invested into our campus, it’s no wonder that we’ve earned a coveted spot
in the UK Top 3 for University Facilities (Whatuni Student Choice Awards, 2023).
We aim to provide you with an immersive learning experience, preparing you for real-life scenarios. From simulation centres for clinical skills and policing, dance studios and a language centre, to a replica courtroom and £13m Tech Hub home to the CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment). We have everything you need to succeed.
Research-active Lecturers
We proudly offer education that’s informed by research of true international standing. Over half of our research is classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021). Our mission is to share this wealth of expertise with you. We’ll actively encourage you to learn in a way that works best for you, whilst being guided by our experts who are research-active in their field.
We’re renowned for having a genuine sense of community at Edge Hill, and this extends out to our academic staff too. We want you to be able to seek support and guidance when they need it. To ask questions about what you have learnt. Propose alternative theories. And engage in meaningful discussions that help shape different views.
