Warwick Business School – PhD Programme

Warwick Business School (WBS) has an internationally recognised research community in the fields of business management, finance and econometrics. We value our doctoral researchers and aim to attract PhD students from across the globe who are independent thinkers.

Our vision is to develop cutting-edge research that leads the debate and deepens our understanding of the practice of business and management. Our research is undertaken in partnership with policy and practice, to ensure both relevance and practical application.

We offer two programme pathways:

  • Business & Management

You will undertake research in a broad range of business related topics attached to one of our specialisms, depending on your topic and supervisor.

  • Finance & Econometrics

You will undertake research in one of our Finance related specialisms, depending on your topic and supervisor.

Our specialisms include:

  • Accounting
  • Behavioural Science
  • Entrepreneurship & Innovation
  • Finance
  • Information Systems & Management
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • Organisation & Human Resource Management
  • Strategy & International Business

Your supervisor

During your time at WBS, you will be advised by one or two supervisors with appropriate research expertise and interests. With more than a third of our staff from countries outside the UK, our faculty is truly international. All of our faculty are research active and the majority supervise doctoral research. Your main supervisor will be nominated when you are offered a place on the PhD programme; a second is chosen towards the end of your first year of study.

Length of programme

Both of our pathways are offered as full-time four-year programmes, however UK residents may apply for part-time registration which can be studied over five to seven years.
