When I was trying to decide on a university for my Masters, I knew that I wanted a great university in a city, but without the bustle of London and one that adopted a very practical approach. The University of York ticked all of these boxes for me. The placement opportunity offered by the York Law School and the Centre for Applied Human Rights was a great way to gain practical experience alongside in-depth knowledge in my chosen field. This was important to me because I wanted to finish my Masters with skills and experiences that would enable me to secure jobs and thrive in a working environment.

Nabila, LLM International Human Rights Law and Practice

You study in a more independent way than at undergraduate level. I understand what my lecturers are currently researching and – naturally – they love talking about it. After our induction all the Linguistics Masters students chatted with the academics. It really felt like I was part of a community of thinkers.

"I chose the University of York because the Masters courses on offer are quite intensive. That appealed to me and of course, the University of York is part of the Russell Group which is important.
