The 2018 deadline has now passed. This entry will be updated as soon as details of the next round of funding are announced
The Foundation was established in 1959 by Mr George Drexler OBE, a successful businessman, for the purposes of the advancement of education.
Our aim is to enrich the educational experiences of younger people by assisting particularly gifted or talented students who are in need of financial support.
We award grants to people in need and grants awarded are made for costs associated with undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This is in support of them developing their individual skills, particularly those students in medical education.
Restrictions & Eligibility
1. The trustees are keen to support projects that focus on enriching the educational experiences of younger people; assisting particularly gifted or talented students. The process is open to UK undergraduates or post-graduates in developing their individual skills particularly those students in medical education.
We do not support funding for medical electives, volunteering, study abroad, gap year projects, part-time study or overseas students.
2. It is a strict requirement of the Foundation that a link with commerce must be established for an application to be considered. To qualify either the applicant, the applicant’s parents or grandparents must have owned a commercial business. This does not include professional people i.e. doctors, accountants, architects, solicitors, etc. Evidence may be required.
Grants are made annually, with applications considered in May each year by the trustees. Applications must be submitted via our online form.
No extensions are given and no additional grants are awarded throughout the year.
The Foundation has limited funds on which to draw annually. As a result competition is fierce and only a small number are made each year. Grants range between £500-2000 maximum, issued in a single payment.
Payment of Grants
Grants will be paid in advance of studies normally in September.
