This largely placement-based course is designed to give you the practical skills, understanding of educational theory and history-specific knowledge you need to be a highly proficient teacher of history. You spend 80% of your time in placement schools, gaining hands-on experience of teaching students aged 11-16. In University-based sessions, you explore professional issues such as your teacher persona, SEND education and debates around geography curriculum content. You also develop a range of approaches to classroom management, planning and assessment, and the role of ICT in teaching geography.
There is the option to take this course part time over two years, making it easier to balance study with your other commitments.
UK applicants should have a good undergraduate degree at Honours level, or equivalent.
