With over 400 research students and 400 academics across our institutes, Bedfordshire have an active and dynamic research community within the University.
The University has ten research institutes which focus the research output of University staff; increase and support research quality; and help communicate research achievements. The research institutes have developed a variety of international research partnerships and work across disciplines to enhance the quality of research and inform teaching. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021 results revealed that the University is world-leading in multiple research areas.
The University’s research is updating child protection, informing the police about gang culture, advising the EU on cyber stalking, leading the way in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, and much more.
Overall, 60% of University of Bedfordshire’s research and 50% of its impact was judged to be world-leading or internationally excellent by the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.
