The MSc in Sport Coaching positions sport coaching as a political, pedagogical, and sociocultural endeavour. Its aim is to produce reflexive and ethical sports coaching scholars who critically position themselves in historically and culturally constituted coaching discourses and practices. In doing so, the MSc in Sport Coaching provides a unique opportunity for the development of imaginative action and thinking to support personal and professional progression.
Our programme is based upon contemporary leading-edge research knowledge, and mainly taught by research-active academic staff with relevant coaching experience. The curriculum emphasis on a sociocultural and pedagogic approach to sports coaching is consistent with staff expertise, which has been commended by both external advisers and students.
An honours degree (normally 2.1 or above) in a related subject area together with appropriate teaching/coaching experience.
Non-graduates whose lack of formal qualifications is compensated for by their age and relevant coaching experience will also be considered.
A range of bursaries, scholarships, loans and grants are available. Please visit website to find out more.
Students from this course have developed careers in sport coaching, teaching, sport science support, further and higher education, and sports development.
