Masters Degree Description

As more businesses invest in digital transformation, public sector and central government services are increasingly accessed digitally by default. E-retail continues to outpace physical high street sales, and a wide range of digital services and experiences—spanning entertainment, social interaction, and wellbeing—are now used daily by the majority of the population. This growing reliance on digital platforms fuels an ever-increasing demand for User Experience (UX) specialists.

The MA User Experience Design programme introduces students to the essential principles of UX Design through lectures, seminars, and practical studio projects, with no prior experience required. Participants engage in a co-creation module that encourages the development of creative, collaborative, and critical thinking skills, particularly in addressing sustainability challenges.

Additional modules provide a deeper understanding of the professional and societal contexts in which UX Designs are created and implemented, along with core UX methods and practices for designing with diverse user needs in mind. These experiences culminate in a major independent project - Designing the Transformed User Experience - where students apply their learning to a supervised UX Design research or portfolio project.
