The Institute has an Educational and Scientific Trust which may provide assistance with the cost of education and training in forestry.
The primary objective of the Trust is the advancement of education in forestry and related fields, including arboriculture. The Trustees are empowered to use the Trust Fund to encourage education in forestry and related fields and to provide grants to enable recipients to study forestry in the UK or elsewhere, with the objective of assisting individuals to qualify or improve their qualifications.

Applicants may be members of the Institute and others provided that the primary objective of the Trust can be sustained.
Forestry can be taken to include the practice of all aspects of tree management, including forest and woodland management, arboriculture, urban forestry and environmental forestry.
