Description

At the Department of Risk and Disaster Reduction at UCL, we bring together expertise from across disciplines to advance new approaches to Risk and Disaster Reduction, developing practical solutions that help protect communities and save lives.

Risk and disaster reduction, and dealing with uncertainty and increasing resilience, are high on local, national and international agendas.
With a vibrant research community, bringing together academics with real-world experience from across multiple disciplines – UCL offers the ideal environment in which to pursue Master’s level study in this rapidly-evolving field.

At UCL Risk and Disaster Reduction (UCL RDR), we offer master's programmes with taught and research components which aim to meet the growing need for experts trained to analyse and provide solutions to complex issues.  Choose from one of three specialist programmes:

Our programmes:

  • Risk, Disaster and Resilience MSc
Through a multidisciplinary approach to risk and disaster reduction, you will learn to become a future leader driving policy change and innovation in order to preserve lives and sustain economies which could otherwise be destroyed or damaged by disaster.
  • Risk and Disaster Science MSc
The global challenge of understanding risk, increasing resilience and reducing exposure to hazards has generated demand for a new type of scientist, in government, business and NGOs, who can work across boundaries.
