Tackling today’s greatest challenges, from climate transition and economic inequality to digital transformation and public value creation, requires new ways of thinking and new organisational capabilities.

Innovation, Public Policy and Public Value MPA at UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) equips you with the skills to drive purpose-driven change across public, private, and civil sectors, blending structural innovation with our alternative approach to policymaking.

Study with world-leading faculty, innovating public policy worldwide

Our faculty features leading global experts in economics, policy innovation, and digital governance, including Professor Marianna Mazzucato, described as “one of the world’s most influential economists” (Quartz), Professor Rainer Kattel, and Associate Professor David Eaves. Their groundbreaking work shapes the specialised MPA pathways available to you, including:

  • Public Administration– specialise in the development of public sector capabilities to tackle grand societal challenges.
  • Economic Policy and Political Economy – explore the state/market relationship, finding heterodox solutions to the economic challenges facing capitalist societies.
  • Digital Transformation – navigate the shifting digital landscape within the public sector.

Placement with purpose and applied research opportunities to build your career

In your final term, turn ideas into impact through either:

  • a professional placement with one of our public, private, or civic partners, or
  •  an independent research project applied to the challenges of real organisations.
