Wellbeing of Women Research Training Fellowships

  • DeadlineDeadline: 6 June 2024
  • London, All EnglandLondon, All England

Description

Research Training Fellowships (RTF) provide a single candidate up to £300,000 for research lasting up to three years. Candidates are expected to undertake a higher degree (PhD or MD) that will underpin their development as a future clinical academic leader.

Awards may include full-time salary up to Specialty Registrar grade (or equivalent), consistent with current NHS or academic scales, and other directly incurred research costs. Registration fees for a higher degree may also be included. The research must be undertaken in the UK.

Awards are intended to support candidates to pursue a career in academic medicine and help build capacity in the field of obstetrics, gynaecology or related to women’s reproductive health. Fellowships will be considered for basic science, clinical and translational research, including explanatory or feasibility studies and systematic reviews, that seeks to improve the health of women, girls and babies.

A Fellowship will only be awarded to an applicant who has been accepted for a place in a department with established expertise in the specified field. Evidence must be provided of previous interest and training in research. Both the training and research project must be capable of being brought to a conclusion within the duration of the award.

Applications may be made for the financial support of work already in progress, or for a new project, provided a substantial element of training is provided (recognised by a higher degree) during the course of the Fellowship.
