The University of Manchester is one of the largest and most successful centres for biological, medical and health focused research and training in Europe.

Our Medical Research Council (MRC) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) scheme represents flagship PhD training aimed at developing the next generation of outstanding researchers across the medical and health sciences.

DTP postgraduate researchers play pivotal roles in the scientific outputs and health interventions of their host groups, and benefit from wider career enhancing activities such as industry placements, public engagement opportunities and networking events.

MRC DTP & CASE projects starting in October 2026 are now open for applications until 8 November 2025.

Who is eligible?

These studentships are available to home and international candidates that:

• Hold, or be about to obtain, a First or Upper Second class UK honours degree (or international equivalent) in an appropriate area of science, engineering or technology
• A Master’s qualification in a related area would be beneficial but is not essential
