The University of Glasgow is situated in the vibrant West End of the city of Glasgow, a UNESCO City of Music. Our specialist arts and humanities facilities include some of the richest and most diverse collections in Europe, including our extensive Archives and Special Collections, The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery and access to Kelvin Hall, home to The Hunterian Collections, one of the world’s finest university collections. Kelvin Hall is also home to the digital collections of the National Library of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive and 400,000 objects from Glasgow Museums collections. Theatre, film and tv students have access to a cinema, theatre, performance studio and video editing suite. Music students have access to the University Concert Hall and a fine collection of instruments, for recitals, performance practice and teaching and ten practice rooms.
Our Music in the University series promotes music-making University-wide, draws on specific research and educational interests and also collaborates with external professional organisations such as Glasgow Life, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Dunedin Consort and promotes public performances of their music in the University’s beautiful and historic venues
Successful applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and will typically have a 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, and hold an offer of a place for an eligible full-time postgraduate taught programme.
There are a number of bursaries and competitively allocated scholarships for students commencing full-time postgraduate taught programmes at Glasgow in September 2024.
These academic bursaries are available for deserving applicants to undertake a full-time postgraduate master’s degree programme with the University of Glasgow.
The value of awards range from £2000 – £10000.

Scholarships for EU Applicants
Our EU Welcome Award is an automatic £5,000 tuition fee discount to new, incoming EU students enrolling on an eligible postgraduate taught programme. Highly qualified applicants from the EU will be eligible for the Vice Chancellor EU Award which is a tuition fee discount of between £8,000-£12,000.
Scholarships for home (UK) applicants
Scholarships for home applicants include the postgraduate access scholarship to support Home students who could face financial difficulties in taking up their place to study at the University. Applications are particularly welcomed from applicants who met any of our widening participation criteria, or equivalent, at undergraduate level. The value of each scholarship is £4,000 and they are for students undertaking a one or two year Taught Masters programme.
Scholarships for international applicants
Scholarships for international applicants include the University of Glasgow Caribbean Excellence Award, a full fee waiver to support high achieving students from across the Caribbean in their journey to become Future World Changers and the International Leadership Scholarship fee waiver.
20% Alumni Discount for 2024 Entry
At the University of Glasgow, we are offering a 20% discount on all Postgraduate Research and full Postgraduate Taught Masters programmes to our alumni, commencing study in Academic session in 2024. This includes University of Glasgow graduates and those who have completed a Study Abroad programme or the Erasmus Programme at the University of Glasgow. The discount applies to all full-time, part-time and online programmes. This discount can be awarded alongside most University scholarships.
