What is the long-term outcome, in terms of clinical and social functioning, for people who present to psychiatric services with their first episode of mania,and how does it compare with that of people with other psychses? This 3-year studentship will answer this question. The student will have direct access to a number of datasets, for example in the UK (GAP and EUGEI), and several of the European STRATA-G follow-up cohorts. Through the supervisors’ collaborations, the student will have the opportunity to replicate findings and perform secondary analyses using larger international datasets.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have (or be expected to obtain) a bachelor’s degree with 2:1 honours (or Overseas equivalent). A 2:2 degree may be considered only where applicants also offer a master’s with Merit.
